Adventure Inc - Episode 06 - Fate of the Liverpool Flyer

Overview: The Adventure Inc. team strives to uncover evidence that the historically significant Liverpool Flyer wreck took place at Jackson Cove, Beau Harbor before the site is turned into high-rises and multiplexes.

Synopsis by Tribune 2003

Judson Cross believes the wreck of a ship called The Liverpool Flyer, a defining event of Beau Harbor, occurred at Jackson Cove and thinks the site should be preserved. The location is exactly where Tom Rossmoor (Paul Miller), the man responsible for safeguarding the site, plans to build large commercial buildings to bring in tourists and help the community. Dr. Charlton Doyle (Richard Eden), a scholarly Archaeologist, believes there is no real evidence to support Judson's claim, but Judson and his crew are determined to find evidence that proves otherwise or else Mayor Teri Landau (Deborah Odell) and Rossmoor will let the construction begin.

Beau Grandy, The Liverpool Flyer's first mate, died heroically while saving a dozen men, consequently the town of Beau Harbor was named after him. Judson and his crew dive underwater to begin their quest and Judson finds a heavily-encrusted copper plate with the letter 'G' written on it. There are also pictures of turtledoves (the signature piece of the Liverpool Flyer) etched on the back on the plate in the center. Gabriel photographs their finding while Judson heads off for City Hall to inform the Mayor and get an injunction to temporarily halt the construction, set to begin the next day.

On his way to City Hall, Judson is followed and chased by two unknown local men. They each exit from their cars and a vicious fight breaks loose. Judson looses possession of the copper plate, is knocked unconscious, locked inside one of the men's car trunk and taken to a hidden cave where he is tied up and drugged. It is revealed that two men are Fuller (Michael Rhoades) and Arvin (Michael Kash), employees of Rossmoor, who wants Judson out of the way until the injunction expires.

As the drugs take effect on Judson, he begins to dream. In his dream, he travels back to the time when The Liverpool Flyer sunk and encounters a woman wearing a turtledove brooch, the same turtledoves that are the signature piece of the Liverpool Flyer.

As Judson's dream unfolds, the mystery of The Liverpool Flyer fateful shipwreck is revealed: during a storm, lightening hit a tree, which caught on fire, one of the ships' crewmen thought the blazing tree was the lighthouse. The ship followed that signal and crashed into jagged rock cliffs. As Judson finally awakes, rising ocean water from the incoming tide surrounds him.

Meanwhile, Gabriel meets Penny (Jamila Fleming), a field recorder in Jackson Cove and one of Doyle's former students. Gabriel discovers that Doyle falsified information when he searched the waters for the wreckage. Penny reveals that they had found evidence that the ship was in Jackson's Cove. Mackenzie and Gabriel show Doyle their photographs of The Liverpool Flyer's copper plate and bring Penny with them to confirm she has seen evidence at the site also. They know Doyle is behind Judson's disappearance and insist he take them to Judson immediately.

Just before Judson becomes submersed underwater, Mackenzie rescues him and pulls him safely onto a boat. As Gabriel is checking to see if Judson is harmed, he finds the brooch that the woman was wearing in Judson's dream. The brooch is evidence, in addition to the plate, that The Liverpool Flyer is in the Cove.

While Rossmoor looks upon The Liverpool Flyer construction site with his workers, Judson arrives with his evidence to permanently stop the construction. Rossmoor is then arrested for kidnapping and attempted murder. Judson convinces Teri that the dedication museum he builds to honor their history and ancestors will bring in plenty of tourists.
