Adventure Inc - Episode 07 - Curse of the Neptune

Overview: Murder and mayhem surround Adventure Inc. when they attempt to salvage a wrecked ship that is supposedly cursed.

Synopsis by Tribune 2003

Judson, Mackenzie and Gabriel attend the premiere for a film about the RMS Neptune. Host Barney Taylor (James Downing) shares the history of the supposedly cursed passenger ship that was sunk by an enemy U-boat in 1945, killing 930 people. Dame Margo Lawson (Patricia Collins), the only living survivor from the ship, and her granddaughter, Evelyn (Regan Pasternak), are horrified when Taylor announces he is going to salvage the recently discovered ship. The Adventure Inc. crew is equally shocked when Taylor also announces that another 'treasure hunter', Lloyd Norman (John MacDonald), will be doing the salvaging.

Following the premiere, Don Ainsley (Sean Bell), a descendant of one of the drowned passengers, begs Taylor and Norman to call off the salvage because of the curse. During the hostile confrontation, Ainsley falls and knocks over a giant set of shark teeth, which falls on top of Norman, killing him. Desperate for a salvage expert, Taylor turns to Judson, who, with some reluctance, takes the Neptune job. Taylor introduces Judson to lab scientist Hugh Branscombe (Jonathan Walker), who has invented a solution that will help clear years of ocean deposits on the ship.

During the crew's first exploratory dive, Judson's air tube rips and Mackenzie has to come to his aid. When they return to the Vast Explorer, Ainsley is there and again pleads with the crew to stop the salvage. He informs the crew that Taylor intends to sell all of the Neptune's artifacts, not turn them over to a museum as Judson had thought. They immediately go to the museum to confront Taylor, but find him dead.

During the crew's second dive, they rescue Dame Margo's trunk, among other items. Returning to the lab to drop off salvage material, the crew finds Branscombe dead in a barnacle tank. Opening a salvaged crate that Branscombe had been working on, they find submachine guns. They recall that when they were diving, they saw similar crates in the Neptune's cargo hold. When they question Dame Margo about the contents of the crate, she again pleads with them to leave the ship alone and let the past stay in the past.

After having a vivid dream about Dame Margo's trunk, Judson wakes Gabriel and Mackenzie and they race to the lab and retrieve Branscombe's solution. At the Vast Explorer, they are applying the solution to the trunk when a hooded intruder on a speedboat launches a firebomb at them. Judson controls the blaze and Gabriel and Mackenzie chase then catch the attacker, only to find that it's Evelyn. They realize that Evelyn, Dame Margo and Ainsley have been plotting to sabotage the salvage expedition.

Back on the Vast Explorer, Judson is attacked and kidnapped by Ainsley and Margo. Judson is thrown into the van and hits his head on Dame Margo's trunk, which opens and reveals the skeleton of Dame Margo's dead husband. Dame Margo proceeds to inform Judson that she was a German spy and married her husband, who was a radio controller on the Neptune, so that she would be able to use the radio and inform the German's of the ships' whereabouts and contents. She knew she had to stop the salvage so her secret wouldn't be revealed. Just as the van is leaving, Gabriel and Mackenzie return and a chase ensues. Judson attempts to attack Ainsley, but Ainsley pulls a gun. Judson kicks the gun, which accidentally fires, hitting Ainsley and causing the van to loose control and plunge into the water below.

As Mackenzie and Gabriel arrive, they see Judson and Ainsley surface, but see no sign of Dame Margo. In the distance, Dame Margo's dead body surfaces, with the hand of her husband's skeleton firmly clasped to her ankle.
