this is a sweet little vignette about grief.  Until you suffer a loss how can you possibly describe the ache the emptiness even the rage that can sometimes be the only thing that carries you from one day to the next?  words pale and will never convey the depth and true meaning of loss and no one can do it for you.  I only hope that those who read this will catch a glimmer of such  loss that will help them when the inevitable happens.

Good story. Nice way to commemorate a five year anniversary. well done.

Oh grieve is a verb. Grief is it's noun. Replace the two usages of grieve in the last large paragraph with the word grief.

Tonny...a very good story. Chris, facing his pain, without a bottle in his hand, with a peace from having so many friends supporting him through it all. The trees, growing together, was a very special touch. Thanks for a great story. Anne

I really liked this, Tonny. It was stuffed full of emotion - the symbolism with the trees was beautiful. There was optimism for the future and some closure for Chris. I loved that it was Vin with him... that felt right to me. Sonia's collage was lovely too. Very well done. Susie
