The Mission by Jess
Author's Notes:
This is another challenge entry for a humorous fic. This is short and I thought a little more poking fun would be nice for fellow Biehnies still struggling to smile these days. So, as the Wal-Mart slogan here in Texas says, Smile and put on a Happy face! Or the McDonald's slogan, We love to see you smile! Whichever... Enjoy!
Kyle Reese knew he had a job to do. John Connor depended on him. Everyone did. His face was grimed with sweat and his muscles still were vibrating at the edge of pain and exhaustion. The teleportation was a success but it, literally, blew his breath away. Still, he quickly composed himself and began his mission. Remember the mission, he remembered John Connor say and with that, he pulled out the single image of a picture John Connor had given him long ago. Yeah. He remembered it all right. He certainly hoped so.

Reese sighed as he walked the street, unsure of where to start looking. The target was residing here at LA. But where? And how long did he have to reach the target before it was too late? He knew he didn't have much time. The mission... he had just HAD to complete the mission.

Hours later, Reese went to the usual places that served as potential places for the target to appear. Sadly, the target wasn't there. He hurried to the other places he thought the target might be. Again, the target wasn't there. At one point, he even stopped to ask for directions. Finally, he was getting somewhere.

"Take a left and go straight after that, buddy," a heavy man said and smiled. "Good luck."

"Thanks. You've no idea how happy John Conner will be."

"Uh... John who?"

"Uh, never mind. Thanks."

Reese scurried into the alleys, knowing that it would be a shortcut to the target's residence. Ah, success! Finally! But is he too late?

He ran up to the target's door and rang the bell. A beautiful woman with blond hair and blue jeans appeared. On her shirt, her name: Sarah. She looked at Reese indifferently.

A day later, Reese was teleported back to the future. John Connor was the first to greet him, along with his flock of soldiers. They eagerly awaited news concerning the mission. Everything depended on his success. If he failed, the results would be too devastating to comprehend. Reese looked at them all. A single tear fell down his left eye that instantly told his comrades the results.

"I take it she didn't get the Super Bowl tickets?" John finally said.

"Sorry, John, she told me that they sold out an hour earlier," Reese replied a bit sad. "She also told me to tell you that the next time you send your father back through time for something like this, she's going to put you up for adoption."
