Leaving Bisbee

In the hour before dawn Chris Larabee snuggled deeper into this pillow and mattress. A pound-ing hangover induced headache did not stop him from reaching for his wife, Sarah. He loved to pull her close first thing in the morning. She never failed to welcome him into her half asleep world. She made him rejoice in the pleasures of the joining of their bodies.

But this morning his arm moved across cold empty sheet. His half tortured mind remember-ed that Sarah was gone. Would never turn to him again welcoming him with love and affection.

He rolled over to a sitting position, grabbed the nearby wash basin and emptied his stomach. He wept as he vomited. The physcial pain was almost too much and his head began to spin. He fell backward onto the bed and sobbed until he passed out. Thus, his day had begun.
