Author's Chapter Notes:
Written for the MBfic July 2003 Drabble Challenge.
The man pulled his coat collar closer around his ears. To say he was cold would be an understatement. He waited, anticipating the Terminator's next move, knowing this would probably be his final chance to save his son's life. Sarah and John Connor thought him dead, but he'd survived, saved by a dead man's switch and brought forward to the time of the machines. A time before they'd become almost human themselves. They'd brought him to them to use as a weapon of blackmail against his own son when the time came, but he'd escaped and now all he had to do was eliminate the Terminator once and for all. He looked up, swallowing the lump forming in his throat as three people came towards him. He recognized Sarah and John instantly and knew the oversized beast beside them was the Terminator. The one he'd fought his way back here to kill...to destroy, before it was once more taken back to the machines. He had the device tucked safely into his pocket and his hand slipped inside once more. All he had to do was get close enough to the cybernetic organism and it would disrupt the flow of the computer brain, fusing everything and instantly melting the Terminator's own defence mechanism, thereby killing the robot before it had a chance to know what was being done to it.

Kyle heard them talking, and nearly cried out as he heard Sarah's voice. All he wanted was to hold her, to be near her, to make love to her once more, but would that happen, or would they all die at this creature's hands?

"Sarah! Get down!" he screamed, running forward as he pulled the switch from his pocket and placed it against the Terminator's left eye. The cyborg's strong hand stretched out and caught him around the throat and his air supply was suddenly at a minimum. Darkness began to claim him as he heard Sarah and John calling to him. Green eyes shot open and he stared into the cold, calculating red eyes of the machine. As suddenly as the hand had grabbed him it released him and he dropped to the ground as the cybrog began to shrivel before his eyes.

"Kyle!" Sarah cried racing forward to grab the man she thought lost to her forever.

"Sarah! Is John okay?" he rasped as his chest heaved and air finally entered his lungs once more.

"He's fine...but...you're supposed be..."

"Dad...I know, but the machines. They saved me, Sarah. They brought me back because they wanted to experiment on me, but I escaped and found a way to destroy the machines and the Terminator. He's the last one, Sarah and he's dead!"

"How can you be sure?" Sarah asked.

"Because our son told me my journey would not be over until we came full circle. John, is it over?" Reese asked hopefully of his teenage son.

"It's over...for now, but there's always fate and we both know how that goes. The Terminator is dead, but the machines are still out there and we have to continue the fight...together! Promise we'll always fight for what's right?"

"There's no one else I'd rather fight with, Son," Reese said as Sarah helped him to his feet. The trio walked away from the final remnants of the destroyed Terminator. Life for it had finally ended, but for John, Sarah and Kyle it was only just beginning.
