“Knight, Vasquez, Drake. You guys alive?!”
Knight grunted softly as she moved the bug’s lifeless body off of her, avoiding the gunshot wound on the Alien; which was oozing out its acidic blood. “You alright, kid?” Vasquez asked the younger female Private; who nodded softly as she reached for her fallen Pulse Rifle.
“Fuck..” Drake mumbled as he pulled himself to his feet, looking up at the hole burned into the metal floors when they three of them cornered at attacked the Xeno.
They’d fallen after the bleeding bug lunged at Knight; knocking her to the floor and burning a hole into the floor, which collapsed. Vasquez was pulled to her feet by Drake, and in turn; pulled Knight to her feet as well.
“You guys good?!” Came the Corporal’s voice from above once again, causing Knight to turn her throbbing head toward his voice.
“We’re fine…” She mumbled as she checked her rifle’s ammo.
“What was that?!”
Knight rolled her eyes as she fully turned her body toward the light seeping down into the next hall they had fell to above. “I said we’re fine!!” She shouted up toward him.
“Why don’t you use the radio?” Drake muttered towards Knight; who tried to get her headpiece to work, when she tried it all she got was static.
“We’re cut off.” She stated as she waited for her other two teammates to get situated.
A low moan was heard somewhere in the shadows, causing Knight to turn around and aim her shoulder-mounted flashlight into the dark. “You guys got any movement on the tracker?” Knight whispered softly toward her teammates.
“No, why?” Vasquez questioned as she reloaded her rifle. The younger private cursed as the shape showed itself.
“Oh fuck!” Knight yelped as she human broke into a lunge at her, causing the girl to pull the trigger, firing the rifle and dropping the man.
“Shit, damnitt!” Knight swore as the colonist hit the ground in a limp heap. She was sure she was going to get in trouble for shooting an unarmed civilian.
“What the fuck, Private?” Vasquez growled at the girl.
Knight carefully approached the body before poking it with her boot- it didn’t move. The Private then slung her rifle over her shoulder and turned the body over, wiping the blood off on her pants.
The corpse had the familiar hole in the middle of the chest- from where an infant Xeno burst out, she knew host’s died once the Xeno was born, but she didn’t understand how the poor bastard even got up after it. Something was wrong though, very wrong..
