The Fish Game

Stepping off the elevator, after a late lunch, Vin Tanner and Chris Larabee, heard strange music coming from the office. Looking at each other puzzled, their curiosity aroused, they move into the office to find the source of the music.

It lead them to the last place they expected.

The desk of Josiah Sanchez.

“Look out for that one Josiah!” Nathan exclaimed trying to help his friend avoid being eaten.

“I see him brother,” Josiah answered while moving the mouse so his fish wouldn’t get eaten.

“What’s that ugly green one?” Nathan asked his attention like Josiah’s on the computer monitor.

“That’s an Angler Fish brother. He uses that antenna to catch fish with.” Josiah explained while out maneuvering the fish.

Vin looked at Chris and raised an eyebrow, smirk on his lips. Chris smirked back, here were two of the ATF’s finest agents men trained for anything and yet they didn’t even hear there team mates walk in or that they are standing behind them.

“Damn!! What the hell was that big thing?” Nathan asked.

“That was a barracuda.” Josiah calmly said while moving his little angel fish out of the danger and had it bite the larger fish’s tail.

“Jelly fishes… is that fair, and what are those glowing green fish.” Nathan said poking the screen.

“Yes brother” Josiah sighed, “ Jellies are fair, the glowing green fish are poisoned mutants, if you eat them you get sick.” He watch as his little angel fish just ate a mutant fish. Sighing the game was over… or he could restart it.

Nathan looked at him. “Can I … I mean if you don’t mind…”

Josiah laughed his booming laugh, “Not at all brother, give it a shot.” He said moving so Nathan could get to the mouse.

Nathan started the game and was trying to move his fish all over the place.

“Beware of the lion fish brother, he can eat you.” Josiah said.

“Argh.. they move to fast.” Nathan said while frantically moving his mouse.

“What the hell… was that a mermaid?” Nathan asked.

“Yes it was means you got a perfect score.”

Chris and Vin looked at each other and at the same time each one laid a hand on the shoulder of the person in front of them.

Both Nathan and Josiah jumped.

“Josiah, Nathan.” Chris said.

“Brothers. I see you caught Nathan and I relaxing on our lunch.”

“Well, just as long as you get back to work, I have no problem with what you do on your lunch.” He glanced at Vin and headed for his office.

Nathan headed back to his desk as Josiah started to close the game down.

A sly smile crossed Vin’s lips as he got the name of the game.

Buck and JD came back from lunch, Ezra was out talking to leads regarding an up coming case.

Four thirty came and the men started to wind the day down. Making plans to meet at the Saloon for dinner and drinks, and to discuss plans for the weekend, another BBQ at Chris’ ranch.

“Hey Vin, ya coming?” Buck yelled as he headed for the elevator.

‘Yea Bucklin, let me grab Chris and we will meet you there.”

Vin stood and watched the elevator doors slide shut. The grin again appearing on his lips, as he watched the numbers start to descend.

Moving to Chris’ office he leaned against the door frame.

“They’re gone Cowboy.” Vin said grinning.

“Ya sure?” Chris asked while moving from behind his desk.

“Yep watched them leave myself.”

They moved to Josiah’s desk, and brought the computer up.

“Did you get the name?” Chris asked waiting for the computer to load.

“Yep.” Vin grinned as he took the mouse and started to look for the program.

“Got it.” they both watched it load.

“Who goes first?” Vin asked.

“Flip ya for it. ” Chris said while digging a quarter out of his pocket.

“Ok call it.” Chris said flipping the quarter into the air.

“Heads.” Vin said.

They watched it land and looked at it. Chris grinned and picked up his quarter. “Tails I go first.”

Chris watched at the screen loaded, “Guess I am this little fish?”

“Reckon so… better get your ass in gear cowboy so that big fish doesn’t eat ya.” Vin said pointing at the screen

“I see’em, I see’em.” Chris said while trying to dodge the fish.

“SHIT!!! Where the hell did that big bastard come from?” Chris growled.

Vin started laughing. “Don’t think you was supposed to swim into his mouth cowboy.”

Chris growled at Vin, “Think you can do it hot shot?”

“Can’t do no worse than you.” he said taking the mouse from Chris

“Son of a bitch!!! Where the hell did that come from?” Vin exclaimed.

Chris laughing said “ That’s sad pard, it ate ya off the screen.”

After what seemed like an eternity they made it to the next level.

Neither man had noticed the man standing behind them watching them with an amused expression on his face.

“Shit is that a shark?” Chris exclaimed

“Watch out!!!” Vin exclaimed as Chris got eaten again.

As they waited for the screen to reload they heard a throat clearing behind them.

Both men shut there eyes, dropped there heads and said a silent curse. They finally turned to see who was standing behind them.

“Mr. Travis, sir.” Vin said

“Orrin.” Chris said.
“What are you two doing?” Travis asked.

“Uh…um..” Chris stammered.

“De-stressing?” Vin offered.

“I see by playing a game?” Orrin asked.

“Yes sir, you see its after work…” Vin said.

“What you boys do on your own time is your business, just try not to use Government computers to do it.” With that Orrin left grinning to himself, and heading straight for his computer, he knew he could do better than Larabee and Tanner.

Quickly they logged off of Sanchez’s computer and headed for the elevator.

“Ya tell anyone Tanner I’ll shoot ya.” Chris growled.

“Same here cowboy.” Vin answered.
